The second staging of Bring Back the Love cabaret show, which took place last Saturday at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston, has been hailed as a success by its organisers.

The LDC Enterprises event featured performances by guitarist Ernie Ranglin, vocalist Pam Hall, Fab 5 Band, and drummer/musical director Desi Jones and his All-Star Band.

“It was a really nice event, and our compère Fae Ellington did a good job and also interacted with the audience,” Maxine Brown, PR director, shared in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.

Veteran singer Pam Hall concurred.

“It was lovely and full of nostalgia; it was very nice. I must commend all the musicians who did an excellent job,” said Hall.

Hall, who was backed by Desi Jones and his All-Star Band, performed a medley of songs from American rhythm and blues act The Stylistics (that were written or produced by the late Thom Bell), along with Perfidia and a tribute to Ranglin.

Asked on the decision to pay tribute to Ranglin, Hall said: “I really rate and respect him. He is one of the greatest guitarists the world has ever seen, so it was natural to pay tribute to him.”

Ranglin and Hall teamed up in 2009 for the release of the collaborative album Testament.

Hall’s daughter, Tafina Wilson, provided background vocals during her set.

Part proceeds from the staging of Bring Back the Love will go towards the McCamm Child Care Development Centre.

“We chose the McCamm Child Care Development Centre as the beneficiary because of what they stand for. Among other things, they look after children with special needs,” said Brown.
