It is an indisputable fact that women are very important in our society.
Not only do they play integral role in the procreation and continuation of human race, but they nurture young lives. Hence, the saying: “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.”
In other spheres, such as economy, leadership, education, religions/spirituality and community development, the value of the roles played by women is unquantifiable and priceless.
As I pay tribute to our women of worth, I implore them to spend more time and energy on character building in the lives of our youth, especially boys.
I also use this medium to state that the greatest tribute the world can make in the celebration of women on this International Women’s Day is to end women being victims of domestic violence, sexual exploitation, human trafficking, honour-killing, and forced marriage (child brides).
In closing, I urge males to remember the saying, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman!” This woman may be your wife, girlfriend, mother, sister or aunt.
Happy International Women’s Day. May we celebrate our women every day.
