West Indies bowl in rain-shortened T20 against South Africa
CENTURION, South Africa, (AFP) – The West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl in a rain-shortened first Twenty20 international against South Africa at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Saturday.
Play was due to start two hours late because of rain, with the match reduced to 11 overs-a-side and the weather remained overcast.
Both teams had new captains and West Indies skipper Rovman Powell said he was following a trend in Centurion.
“Generally the team that wins the toss here bowls first,” he said.
South Africa’s Aiden Markram said he also would have bowled if he had the choice.
“It’s a reduced game and there’s a bit of weather around,” he said.
“But hopefully we can put a good score on the board,” he added.
