Love Conquers All

Love Conquers All

What started out as a cordial on-the-job relationship between Tara Grant and Sheldon Marshall at Tara’s uncle’s juice company, Juice World, in 2006, developed into a romantic liaison after the two worked an overnight shift and enjoyed each other’s company, the pranks played and the non-stop laughter. Clearly, Cupid’s arrow was hovering sending sparks flying.

Sheldon shared with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV) that his attraction was initially entirely physical but added, it was her infectious personality that sparked his interest in pursuing her.

Thankfully, the feelings were mutual. Tara found him attractive, loved his company, and was intrigued by his personality. As their love blossomed they realised their shared devotion to family. Tara and Sheldon enjoyed many dates at family dinners, birthday celebrations and attending church.

Eschew all thoughts of a Hallmark romance. “The relationship was not always smooth sailing as, in 2007, I travelled overseas for work for six months and our love was tested when it became a long-distance one,” shared Tara. In fact, Sheldon proposed over the phone during her time away.

Tara, although in shock, accepted. “I didn’t take it seriously, but I accepted the proposal over the phone. When I returned, there was no ring to confirm our proposal [but] I remained patient,” added Tara.

It would take unwavering love, however, when in 2010 Tara found herself pregnant with twin boys. Their joy soon turned to sorrow when one of the twins was stillborn, and the other was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and not given much time to live.

“We knew we didn’t have much time with our son but [we] spent every moment cherishing him… as we showered him with love ours grew even stronger,” an emotional Tara told TSV.

The couple was blessed three years later with a third child, a girl, when they named Tiara.

Sheldon’s second proposal came in 2017. Once more Tara accepted. A year later she gave birth to a fourth child, a son, named Khaheed.

Their happiness would again be dashed as within a year they’d lose their only surviving twin son, Terrell.

Tara and Sheldon leaned on each other for support and slowly started healing. Incredibly, there’d soon be more burden to carry as Sheldon was involved in an accident in 2022 that left him hospitalised for three weeks. Tara stayed by his side throughout his recovery.

A romantic weekend getaway at the Ocean Coral Spring Resort in Trelawny ended with Sheldon getting down on one knee and proposing to Tara. This time with a ring. “I happily said yes!.. This was the moment I’d been waiting for!” Tara revealed to TSV.

The ceremony

The exchange of wedding vows took place on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Caymanas Golf Club, St Catherine, surrounded by family and friends.

Tara made a pretty bride as she made her way up the aisle escorted by her son Carlington in a white mermaid dress from Bliss Bridal, which featured silver details as well as a court train with crystal accents. Her bouquet arrangement consisted of white, blush and burgundy roses.

Pastor Carl Dyer was the lone officiant.

Let the celebrations begin!

The reception was, in the words of the newly-weds, a beautiful affair. Their entrance was to the sounds of Fall For You by Leela James and their first dance as husband and wife to You Are The Reason by Calum Scott. “It is as if the room went still because we were lost in our own little world,” said Tara.

The couple later honeymooned at the Royalton Blue Waters.
