Medal haul
Montego Bay’s Red Dragon Taekwon-Do Centre had a successful outing at the recent Jamaica Taekwon-Do Academy Open Championship held at Calabar High School’s auditorium. They won 23 medals including 10 gold.
Under the guidance of chief instructor Shiahh Shukura 4th Dan and a member of the Jamaica Taekwon-Do Association, the Montego Bay team were outstanding.
Four members won two gold medals each: Jaden James, in the Coloured Belt Division Age 12-13, won gold medals in pattern and sparring; Caziah Findlater, Coloured Belt Division Age 14-15, also won for pattern and sparring as well as Kenyon Blake, Coloured Belt Division Age 16-17, and Ruth-Ann Sanderson, Coloured Belt Division Age 16-17.
Kemar Daye won gold for patterns in the Junior Black Belt Division Age 16-17 and a bronze for sparring, Roshawn Titus won a gold in pattern in the Adult Coloured Belt Division while Shomari Shukura won gold for sparring in the Coloured Belt Division Age 12-13 and silver for pattern.
Rusharma Wynter won two silver medals in the Adult Black Belt Division for pattern and sparring; Khalid Baugh won a silver medal in pattern in Coloured Belt Division Age 12-13.
Justin Sampson won a silver medal for sparring and a bronze for patterns in the Junior Black Belt Division Age 14-15; Alexander Zhen won a silver for sparring and bronze for pattern in Coloured Belt Division Age 10-11; Devon Gordon won two bronze medals in sparring and patterns in Adult Coloured Belt Division and Alex Donaldson won a bronze for sparring in the Coloured Belt Division Age 16-17.
