#CariftaGames2023: Pottinger atones with gold in U20 high jump
KINGSTON, Jamaica – World Under- 20 Championships gold medalist Brandon Pottinger, atoned for his silver medal at the CARIFTA Games last year by winning the gold in the Men’s Under -20 high jump with 2.00m.
Pottinger, one of two World Under-20 champions in the Jamaica team, who was second last year with 2.14m, edged his teammate Chavez Penn who took the silver on the countback,, as he also cleared 2.00m, while Trinidad and Tobago’s Jaidi James was third with 1.95m.
Kobe Lawrence retained his Men’s Under -20 discus throw title with 60.27m, another 1-2 for Jamaica as Shaiquan Dunn was second with 57.28 while Antwon Walkin of Turks took the bronze with 52.25m.
Jade-Ann Dawkins jumped 13.05m (0.5m/s) to win the Under -20 girls’ triple jump, beating Bahamas’ Lanaisha Lubin -12.40m (0.7m/s) and French Guiana’s Kayssia Hudson- 12.22m (1.1m/s).
