Checky knows ‘real’
Deejay Checky says he has no difficulty identifying a hypocrite.
He points out the culprits in Nuh Real, his latest song, produced by Krayv Music.
The 21 year-old artiste told the Jamaica Observer that everyone, at some stage, encounters a person who means them no good.
“Everybody can relate to a song like dis, ’cause most time yuh know when a person is real. But dis song is also about people who gwaan like dem real but want to bring you down,” said Checky.
Born Checkario Haughton, he is from Craig Town, a rugged Kingston community that is the birthplace of Shocking Vibes Records and Shocking Vibes Crew, producers of numerous dancehall hits and stars like Beenie Man, Tanto Metro and Devonte.
He attended Excelsior High School and began recording in 2019. His first song, Daddy, was produced by Frankie Music, which also directed him on his follow-up single Hold me Up.
Checky also cut songs such as Bun it Up for producer Johnny Wonder. He said most of his songs are based on what he sees in Craig Town, which borders some of the toughest communities in Jamaica.
