Bridal Fashion and Fashion Week

Those in the wedding industry know that the month of April signals Bridal Fashion Week, and wait with bated breath to see the latest trends on the runway. This got me thinking is Bridal Fashion Week more trend setting or should brides stick to their true fashion personalities?

Bridal fashion and bridal fashion week have long been staples of the fashion industry. These events showcase the latest trends and designs in wedding fashion, providing inspiration for brides-to-be and fashion enthusiasts alike. While some may argue that these events are simply an excuse for extravagant displays of luxury and glamour, the truth is that bridal fashion and fashion week play important roles in the fashion industry.

Why? Styles and designs showcased at these events often inspire the fashion industry as a whole and vice versa, leading to new trends in wedding fashion and beyond. For example, a wedding dress featuring a unique neckline or embellishment may inspire designers to incorporate similar elements into their ready-to-wear collections. Additionally, bridal fashion and fashion week are platforms for emerging designers to showcase their work and gain exposure. This helps to foster creativity and innovation in the fashion industry, ultimately leading to new and exciting styles for consumers to enjoy.

Beyond their influence on the industry, bridal fashion and fashion week also hold special significance for many. They provide an opportunity for brides-to-be to explore different styles and find the perfect dress for their special day. For many, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and the chance to see the latest designs from top designers is a source of excitement and anticipation. Personally, I think the level of detail and skill required to create a wedding dress is truly impressive.

One of the most obvious ways bridal fashion affects the wedding is through the dress itself. What the bride wears is often the most important and anticipated part of a wedding attire.

Bridal fashion can also affect the colour palette of the wedding. The colour of the dress can set the tone for the entire wedding; for instance, a white or ivory dress may inspire a classic and elegant theme, while a colourful dress may inspire a more playful and whimsical aesthetic.

The accessories worn with the wedding dress can also impact the overall look and feel of the wedding. A statement necklace or earrings can add a touch of glamour and sophistication to the overall look, while a flower crown or boho-inspired hairpiece can create a more relaxed and free-spirited atmosphere. The bride’s attire too can impact the overall mood and atmosphere of the wedding.

Bridal fashion is an essential aspect of any wedding. As such, it’s important to choose a dress that not only reflects the bride’s style and personality but also complements the wedding’s overall theme and feel. The right bridal fashion can make all the difference in creating a memorable and magical wedding day.

Bridal fashion and fashion week matter for a multitude of reasons. They set trends, inspire innovation, celebrate artistry, and hold a special significance for many individuals. While the events themselves may be seen as ostentatious and self-indulgent, their impact on the fashion industry and on people’s lives is undeniable.

Among the highlights of the New York Fashion Week Spring 2023 collection of Nadia Manjarrez Bridal, which was showcased both in-person and digitally on Runway360, is the Luna: Double satin Italian crepe ball gown with beaded flower appliqué at bustier and skirt yoke; and the Luna bow: Double satin Italian crepe bow with long lace-trains.
