Meadforest blow away Baptist Alliance in Tier II match-up
MEADFOREST FC continued their rampage through the Jamaica Football Federation Tier II competition after hammering Baptist Alliance 4-0 at Constant Spring on Saturday for their fourth-straight victory.
Meadforest FC increased their lead atop the tables to four points as they raced to 12, followed by Tru-Juice FC and Falmouth United who had wins over Reno FC and Treasure Beach, respectively.
Three clubs are tied on seven points: Racing United who have played a game less, Lime Hall Academy and Treasure Beach.
Delano Daley gave Meadforest the lead in the first half while Shavaughn Warren, Justin Powell and Rodari Edwards added second-half goals.
Tru-Juice won for the first time since the opening round, edging Reno FC 2-1 as the Westmoreland club snapped a two-game winning streak.
Tedj Bryan opened the scoring for Tru-Juice in the 21st minute and Stevon Thompson made it 2-0 in the 30th minute.
Reno FC pulled one back in the second half when Raheem Kerr scored in the 67th minute.
Falmouth United shook off a sloppy first half to hand Treasure Beach their first loss of the season, with second half-goals from Haniff HoSang and substitute Antonio Roberts.
HoSang scored his second of the season in the 75th minute when he beat Treasure Beach goalkeeper Mowey Morgan from close range.
Morgan was indecisive in coming off his line in the 88th minute when Falmouth United countered, and was just short of tackling Roberts who scored from some 30 yards out into an empty goal.
Raheem Edwards scored a brace for Racing United, who has a game in hand, to beat Portlanders FC 5-0.
Javaughn Cole gave Racing an early lead when he scored in the third minute, and Nikyle Ellis added a second in the 29th minute as the St Catherine team led 2-0 at half-time.
Mikyle Williams made it 3-0 in the 51st minute before Edwards got his double in the 69th and 71st minutes.
Lime Hall Academy snapped a two-game winless run with a 3-1 win over Downs at Drax Hall, scoring all their goals in the first 19 minutes of the game with a 12th-minute penalty from Oniel Henry and a three-minute brace from Carlisle Campbell who scored in the 16th and 19th minutes.
Danyea Whitely scored Downs’ consolation goal in the 56th minutes.
Wadada United FC got their first win of the season, after three losses, beating Hopewell United 2-1 at Irwin High while Albion Mountain and Brown’s Town ended 1-1.
