Russia and STRATHS make WFA debuts
LLANDILO, Westmoreland – Russia and STRATHS will start their title quests in the Westmoreland Football Association Victor Lowe Major League when they take on West Development and Barracks Road respectively at Llandilo Sports Complex on Thursday, starting at 4:00 pm.
The competition kicked off on Sunday and will see 12 teams playing each other once, with the top four teams on points qualifying for the semi-finals.
Tuscany Warriors beat Grange Hill 5-1 in Sunday’s opening double header and Petersfield beat Belmont Uprising 4-2. On Tuesday, 12th Street beat Shewsbury FC 2-1 while Savanna La Mar United were awarded points after Star of the West failed to show up for their game.
On Sunday, Trevaun Bennett scored a brace to lead Tuscany Warriors to victory with goals in the 23rd and 69th minutes. Rushawn Graham converted a penalty in the 45th minute, and Stevaughn Spence added another in the 56th minute. Javel Clarke scored the fifth in the 78th minute.
Shewayne Barton also scored a double, netting in the 23rd and the 79th minute. Aaron Stewart scored in the 26th minute, Khamali Burley scored in the 56th minute while Orlando Barnes scored a penalty in the 68th minute.
Roshane Grey and an own goal accounted for Belmont FC’s goals.
On Tuesday, Jermaine Hall and Kenardo Cooper scored for 12th Street while Jason McIntosh scored for Shewsbury.
