Albion Mountain put unbeaten record on the line in Tier II football
Albion Mountain will put their unbeaten record to the test on Saturday when they take on leaders Meadforest FC at the Bell Chung Oval as the Jamaica Football Federation Tier II competition continues with seven games.
Albion Mountain are one of three teams who are yet to lose a game in the competition and have won their last two games, including upsetting Tru Juice on Wednesday.
Second-placed Racing United will hope to rebound from Wednesday’s draw against Browns Town when they play away to Baptist Alliance at York Oval and third-placed Treasure Beach will host Browns Town at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex.
Meadforest FC, who have only allowed three goals in six games, will be a stern test for Albion Mountain who themselves have allowed four but are on a good run of form.
Meadforest FC came from behind to beat Reno FC on Wednesday after losing the previous week and will hope this momentum will carry over on Saturday when they will enjoy home comfort.
Racing United will hope to restart another high-scoring spree after they were held to a single goal on Wednesday after scoring 33 in the previous three games.
They will face a Baptist Alliance team yet to win a game and are second to last in the standings and have yet to show they will be able to withstand a team as prolific in front of goal as Racing United, who have accounted for 39 goals so far from just six games.
Treasure Beach will start favourites against Browns Town at STETHS and should win their third-straight game after losing to Falmouth United.
Browns Town have won once in their last four outings and will need to win if they are to stay close to the leaders.
Tru Juice FC slipped up on Wednesday after their big win over Meadforest FC and should get back to winning ways against Hopewell United who are coming off their first win of the season and their confidence will be up.
Tru Juice have only scored five goals in their last five games after opening the season with five against Wadada United and faces a Hopewell United that has allowed eight.
Lime Hall Academy have surpassed expectations in the first half of the competition and are a point off the semi-final places and will be seeking their fourth win today when they host Portlanders.
Lime Hall had two wins all of last year and had drawn 1-1 against Portlanders FC who are further down the tables with just seven points.
Falmouth United and Reno FC will meet in a western derby that both teams need to win.
Falmouth United have yet to lose a game but have been made to work hard to come back from deficits on at least three occasions so far while Reno FC have lost their last three games by a 6-2 aggregate.
A win could move Falmouth United back into semi-final contention while Reno FC will need to try and avoid dropping into relegation danger.
