A one-woman demonstration in protest against the massive pay hike for politicians in front of the Ministry of Finance in Kingston drew the support of four other women who joined her hours later.
The woman, who identified herself only as Nastassia, a concerned citizen, said she thought it necessary to take to the streets to add to the other voices calling for a roll back of the salaries given to members of the political directorate.
Several public sector groups, members of the clergy along with members of the public have registered their disapproval of the exorbitant pay hike.
The huge salary increases for politicians were announced in Parliament on Tuesday by Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke. In some cases, the salaries for the political directorate has been increased by more than 200 per cent.
