The Style Issue, June 1, 2023
“Style a style and style cyaa spoil!” Headbands, coloured wigs, bell-bottom pants, hip-huggers, mesh merinos and catchy slangs infiltrated dancehall sessions in the 2000s. Fashion back then had a significant impact on dancehall parties, and continues to do so.
Strictly 2K, held on May 26, 2023 at Mas Camp, was one of those parties that took patrons back to their roots with a throwback music festival. The line-up of deejays skilfully worked the ‘turntables’, engaging the crowd with a mix of hip hop, R&B, reggae, and dancehall hits from the 2000s which lasted until the wee hours of Saturday morning
