Tocatbetheglory, after an encouraging second-place finish on last going 6½ furlongs (1,300m), returned to beat rivals in a native-bred five-year-old and upwards (non-winners of three) and imported five-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of two) travelling 7 furlongs (1,400m).

Owned, and trained by Carl Anderson, Tocatbetheglory (Reyan Lewis) settled in fourth position down the backstretch behind Big Argument (Paul Francis), Traditional Boy (Dane Dawkins), and Six Avenue (Roger Hewitt). Lewis sent Tocatbetheglory in chase of Big Argument navigating the half-mile (800m), with Traditional Boy and Six Avenue losing ground on the front two.

Tocatbetheglory turned for home in second place, and although he was impeded by Morse Code, who was running loosely without his rider Anthony Allen, he found extra in the final stages of the race to win, going away by 3 lengths.

Pro Johnny (Oneil Mullings) finished second, and Maya (Anthony Thomas) finished third in a final time of 1:30.3 (24.1 x 48.0 x 1:14.4).

REGNANT

Five-year-old chestnut gelding Regnant made all the running to win the $800,000 Cesario three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($550,000-$450,000) race that also included five-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of four) at 6½ furlongs (1,300m).

With Anthony Thomas riding for trainer Carlton Cunningham, Regnant shot to the front at the off, holding a slim lead ahead of Wowza (Reyan Lewis) passing the 6-furlong (1,200m) point. Regnant continued to bide his time well until approaching the half-mile (800m) turn, when the Midnight Hawk offspring upped the tempo and began to draw clear of the chasing Wowza.

Turning for home with a comfortable lead, Regnant accelerated and powered home in deep stretch to win by 14 lengths at the wire, hitting the line in a time of 1:21.2 (23.2 x 47.0 x 1:13.4). Justin Biden came home in second place with Wowza third. .

ZION’S PRINCESS

Zion’s Princess, neglected at odds of 40-1, defeated rivals to win a native-bred four-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of two) and imported four-year-olds and upwards (maiden) going 6 furlongs (1,200m).

Zion’s Princess wasn’t the best of the runners to leave the starting gates in good order and was held by jockey Anthony Allen among the backmarkers, watching as Dream of Paris (Paul Francis), King Air (Aaron Chatrie), and Minidewak (Javaniel Patterson) set the early pace.

But the Michael Beecham-owned and -trained Zion Princess began to round horses navigating the half-mile turn, looking dangerous coming off the final turn behind Dream of Paris and King Air. Zion’s Princess then pushed further forward deep stretch and drew away from the field to win by 3 lengths at the wire.

Dream of Paris held on to second place ahead of Givemethelight (Youville Pinnock) in third place. The final time for the race was recorded at 1:16.2 (23.0 x 47.3).

KERRY-GAYL ROBINSON ANNOUNCES HIS RETURN

Jockey Kerry-Gayl Robinson immediately announced his return to the saddle when he guided home Stanislaus to victory in an Optional Claiming ($250,000-$200,000) spread that included six-year-olds (non-winners of three) and native-bred five-year-olds and upwards (maidens) over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight.

Trained by Joseph Thomas, Stanislaus disputed the early lead with K D Rocket (Dane Dawkins) and Chitu Prince (Oshadane Robinson). Stanislaus stayed with the field for the first half of the race before he began to draw clear passing the dummy rails.

Although shortening inside the final stages of the race, Stanislaus was able to hold on to the lead, hitting the line by a short head in front of Golden Emperor (Roger Hewitt) and Tequila Blue (Javaniel Patterson). The final time was 1:032. (24.0 x 47.0).

TWO HORSES CLAIMED

Ryan Darby claimed Wowza for owner Raphael Gordon for $550,000 from Nicholas Smith from the second race.

In the fifth race Courtney Williams claimed Stanislaus for owner Aston Ramsay from Joseph Thomas for $250,000.
