Noah Issa’s Legendary makes iTunes top 3
Jamaican producer and recording artiste Noah Issa is celebrating a milestone after his track Legendary, which features Grammy Award-winning singer Shaggy, peaked at number three on the iTunes Top 100 Reggae Songs chart.
“Shaggy was one of my first musical influences growing up, so it’s a big accomplishment to have made this song in collaboration with him,” Issa, who was also the producer of the track, told the Jamaica Observer.
Released on December 9, 2022, Legendary has also amassed 16,000 views on YouTube and continues to be endorsed by Contractor Music Marketing.
Up to Thursday, Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Three Little Birds held the #1 position, while Shaggy and Ricardo Ducent’s It Wasn’t Me took second place.
The collaboration with Shaggy came about unexpectedly, after a virtual challenge that he decided to be part of, Issa explained.
“The song came about after Shaggy launched an open verse challenge on TikTok in which he invited artistes to add a verse over his song Mi Nuh Know. I posted my entry for the challenge on Instagram and TikTok and it began spreading on social media. This caught Shaggy and his team’s attention and eventually led to us linking up at a studio in NYC [New York City] to do this collaboration,” he said.
After gaining some recognition from his first release, New Stylie, which was featured on BBC 1XTRA Diplo & Friends, Issa has continued to deliver his own unique blend of reggae, dancehall, hip hop, and electronic music. His other releases include No Long Talking and Rude Awakening.
Issa, who is the son of one-time Royal Palm Estate actor and businessman Paul Issa, has been producing songs for major dancehall and reggae artistes from the age of 14.
In 2007 Issa composed the Carrot Oil and Brazilian Wax rhythm which featured Vybz Kartel, Elephant Man, Wayne Marshall, Delly Ranx, Black Ryno, and Anthony B.
Issa was also the opening act at the recently held concert dubbed An Evening With Michael Bolton at Couples Sans Souci Resort in St Ann.
