The excitement continued! Patrons and vendors could be seen enjoying the vibes of the background music provided by Ernie Hamilton, Jamaica Horticultural Society (JHS) champion exhibitor 2018 & 2019.

At about 1:30 pm, to everyone’s delight, the show grounds welcomed over 15 vintage cars from the Jamaica Classic Car Club. The cars showcased ranged from the 1950s, 60s & 70s. Patrons were afforded the opportunity to learn about and take photos with and inside their favourite cars. It was indeed a memorable moment for JHS member Diana Beswick, who posed in the yellow 1964 Westfield.

It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge Keith Goldson and Stephen Jones (Barbican Gardens) of blessed memory. Their service and commitment was unwavering to the JHS. Their memory will live on through the Keith Goldson and Barbican Gardens Cups for Best Foliage Plant and Best Palm, respectively.

President Christine Williams and Show Committee Chair Evadne Stewart, presented the prizes. Sharon Cain had an impressive medal haul emerging as the Champion Exhibitor and received the Norman G Henry Trophy. She also walked away with four sectional prizes and two other trophies! President Christine Williams won the coveted cup donated by Hughenden Hardware for Best Bromeliad in Show. Some of the other winners included:

Pamela McLoughlin, the Alvin Fong Tom Cup for Best Cacti; Paulette Balfour, the Mary Williamson Cup for Best Alocasia; Shae-Tongee Stewart, the Louis Lindsay Cup for Best Exhibits – Fruits; Sharon Sterling, the Roy Morin Cup for Best Orchid; Rudy Daley, the Barbican Gardens Cup for Best Palm; Kenny Benjamin, the President’s Medal for the Second Highest Points in Horticulture.
