WIHCON Properties to assist nurses at the University Hospital
WIHCON Properties, the big developers, has appealed to private businesses to join hands with it in refurbishing 28 residential studio units for nursing staff at the 72-year-old University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
Housing has been part of the attraction for nurses at the leading teaching and research medical facility in the English-speaking Caribbean, becoming more critical in aiding in their recruitment and retention, in the face of the tempting packages being offered from abroad for these professionals.
Twenty-eight studio residential units built 30 years ago on the hospital’s compound are in dire need of refurbishing/upgrade, said WIHCON Properties which has been authorised to manage the refurbishing of these units.
WIHCON Properties said it is seeking the financial support of private sector firms to assist with the funding of this project that will be completed in two phases over September and November 2023.
