She’s My Destiny to lead rivals in SVL Anniversary Trophy
SHE’S My Destiny, one of the island’s best sprinters, appears to be the most skilled runner in the field and is likely to lead home competitors in today’s $1.5-million Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) 22nd Anniversary Trophy feature race at Caymanas Park.
She’s My Destiny finished a dismal fifth place behind stablemates I Am Fred, King Arthur, and Miniature Man in the Distinctly Irish Trophy on June 3, after being stretched out to nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m).
The Jason DaCosta-trained She’s My Destiny led for the majority of the race before losing way towards the finish, ending 14 lengths behind winner I Am Fred who won by three quarters of a mile in 1:55.4.
With the distance of five and a half furlongs (1,100m) for this trophy race more to her liking it is expected to be a romp for She’s My Destiny, who will be toting top weight of 57.0kgs (126 lb).
The Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward is positioned as the seventh event on the 10-race card with a post time of 3:25 pm. The first post is at 11:45 am.
She’s My Destiny has competed at this distance three times, winning twice and finishing third once, making her a fan of this sprinting event. Her most recent victory over today’s distance came on December 26, 2022 in the Christopher Armond Sprint during which She’s My Destiny set a Stakes record time of 1:04.4 that none of her five challengers, including four stableates, could match. Reyan Lewis, the leading jockey, has the leg up on the five-year-old chestnut mare.
If all goes well for both runners — She’s My Destiny‘s stablemate King Arthur and the Alford Brown-conditioned Yellowstone — they might make the race seem extremely exciting in the later stages.
King Arthur, after a string of disappointing efforts, finished a brave second to stablemate I Am Fred in the Distinctly Irish on June 3. The reduction in journey for this trophy race does not suit King Arthur one bit, but given the small field he should be closing well for the exotics.
Yellowstone was impressive in victory on June 4 when winning by a length and three quarters over the straight course in a time of 59.0 seconds. Yellowstone steps up to compete, and while he is not expected to win he can use his speed to great effect for second place.
The field is completed by Outbidder, Miniature Man, and Luksol.
