NWC’s Trelawny commercial office to be relocated to Falmouth
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – The National Water Commission (NWC) commercial office in Trelawny is expected to be relocated to Falmouth, the parish capital, from Martha Brae, the former parish capital, before the end of next month.
The office, which is now located in the Jones Town section of Martha Brae, will be relocated to the Champion Shopping Mall in Falmouth.
This was disclosed by Aubyn Green, NWC zone team leader, during the Trelawny Municipal Corporation’s Mayors’ Forum, held in Water Square, Falmouth recently.
Green stated that the relocation of the commercial office is among a raft of initiatives by the utility company to improve services to its customers.
“The NWC is committed to providing easy access to high quality potable water and waste water services, while being responsive to your needs. To this end, there are several projects that are currently ongoing or being implemented to achieve this objective. Chief among them is the much anticipated relocation of our commercial office from Jones Town in Martha Brae back into the town of Falmouth at the Champions Plaza,” Green disclosed.
“The process is approximately 85 per cent complete. The retrofitting of the office space to accommodate our staff and customers is currently ongoing and we are foreseeing that the office will be opened to the public by about mid-August this year. In addition to that, there are several other projects that we are currently implementing,” he said.
He said plans are also well advanced for piped water to be distributed to Braco, a community now without the precious commodity.
“We have currently procured the material to install approximately one kilometre of six-inch transmission main into the community of Braco and we foresee that this project, when we receive all of the materials required, will be completed within another eight months after receiving all the materials,” he said.
