A team of police personnel assigned to the Kingston Western Police Division held a man whom they said is wanted for a murder committed two years ago.

The police subsequently charged 22-year-old Ethan Thompson of Walkers Avenue, Gregory Park, St Catherine with murder, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition in relation to the murder of a man on Lincoln Crescent, Kingston 5 on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Dead is 41-year-old Andre Stephens, a labourer of Lincoln Crescent, Kingston 5.

Reports are that about 7:15 am, Stephens was at the rear of a premises taking a bath when he was attacked by Thompson and other gunmen who shot him several times. The police were alerted and Stephens was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, Thompson was arrested, then charged after he was questioned in the presence of his attorney.

The other gunmen are being sought by the police.

The St Elizabeth police have charged 29-year-old Adrian Shakes, a farmer of Berkshire District, in the parish.

He was charged with having a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition in relation to an incident that occurred in Berkshire District on Saturday, July 8.

Reports from the Black River Police are that about 5:30 am, law enforcers conducted a joint

police/military operation in the area when a premises that was occupied by Shakes was searched.

During the search, Shakes was allegedly seen throwing a firearm from his room. The weapon was retrieved and closer examination revealed that it was a Taurus .38 revolver containing six .38 rounds of ammunition. Further checks were conducted and another seven .38 rounds of ammunition were also seen in his possession, the police said.

He was subsequently taken into custody; and following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney, Shakes was charged

Detectives assigned to the Clarendon police have charged 20-year-old Sheldon Nelson, otherwise called ”Old Face” of Denbigh Crescent, May Pen, Clarendon with murder.

The charge arose from an incident on Harris Street, May Pen in the parish on Sunday, July 2.

Dead is 18-year-old Javoy McKenzie of Harris Street, May Pen.

The police said that about 4:20 am, Nelson and McKenzie had a dispute, during which a knife was used to stab McKenzie. The police were summoned and he was taken to hospital where he died while being treated.

An investigation was carried out and Nelson was arrested. He was charged on Friday, July 7, after a question-and-answer session was conducted in the presence of his attorney.

A police team assigned to the Kingston Western Division seized one prohibited weapon and 17 rounds of ammunition during an operation on Beeston Street, downtown Kingston on Saturday.

Reports from the Denham Town Police are that about 8:15 pm, lawmen were in the area when they saw a group of men along the roadway — one of whom had a firearm.

On seeing the police team, the man who had the firearm dropped it on the ground and ran. The weapon was retrieved and closer examination of it revealed that it was a 9mm Taurus pistol with a magazine containing 17 9mm rounds of ammunition.

No one was arrested in relation to the seizure.
