Green Pond residents shocked by raid, gun seizure
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Curious yet wary residents of Green Heights Mews in Green Pond, St James peered through their gates Thursday morning, as a heavy contingent of police and soldiers trained their attention on a two-storey dwelling.
No one wanted to speak on the record and no one got too close to the flurry of activity.
“I come out to go to work and is just a lot of police and soldier I see in the place. All now I’m not certain what is going on,” one man said before driving away.
Another man said he initially thought the police were on a routine patrol in the community but soon realised that was not the case.
“This look like a serious thing for this amount of police and soldier to really come this side,” he remarked.
According to police reports, the raid has so far led to the seizure of seven firearms, including three rifles; an assortment of ammunition was also seized.

Three individuals have so far been detained by members of the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force. They are suspected to be key members of the notorious Only The Family (OTF) gang.
During the operation, a Toyota Crown motorcar was also removed from the premises.
