Shashalee Forbes wins in Slovakia
World Championships bound Shashalee Forbes was the only Jamaican winner at Thursday’s P-T-S 2023 in Slovakia, winning the women’s 100m in 11.10 seconds (1.4m/s).
Forbes, who was second in the women’s 100m at the recent JAAA national championships, rebounded from a ninth place finish at a Diamond League meeting four days earlier in Poland and was winning outside of Jamaica for the second time this season.
Middle distance runner Adelle Tracey and Javon Francis were both third in their respective events.
Hungary’s Boglarka Takacs was second to Forbes in the women’s 100m in 11.19 seconds while Viktoria Forster set a Slovakian national record 11.26 seconds for third place.
Tracey ran a season’s best 2:00.40 seconds to place third in the women’s 800m that was won by Slovakia’s Anita Horvat in 1:59.91 seconds. Ethiopia’s Hirut Meshesha was third in a season’s best 2:00.24 seconds.
Francis was third in the men’s 400m in 45.87 seconds as France’s Gilles Gibron was first across the finish line in 45.49 seconds and Patrik Sorm of the Czech Republic was third in a season’s best 45.75 seconds.
