Popcaan and Patoranking collaboration rides the charts in Nigeria

Tonight, a collaboration between Nigerian reggae/dancehall artiste Patoranking and dancehall act Popcaan, has entered charts in Nigeria.

On the latest Nigeria Hot 100 Singles chart, Tonight debuts at #86, while on the Nigeria Hot 100 Airplay chart, it enters at #49.

An infectious dancehall and Afrobeats track it is featured on Patoranking’s forthcoming studio album titled World Best. The track was produced by DJ Breezy.

In a press statement, Patoranking, who has performed in Jamaica at both Reggae Sumfest and Rebel Salute, spoke about working with Popcaan.

“Tonight is a summer smash, an all-around feel-good song that will make you dance. It made perfect sense to collaborate with my brother Poppy and DJ Breezy from Ghana, who was also responsible for my hit single My Woman, My Everything on this track,” he said.

Patoranking who previously worked with Jamaican dancehall artistes Konshens and Elephant Man, cites Bob Marley, Buju Banton and Chaka Demus among his key musical influences.

Moving now to the Billboard charts, dancehall artiste Byron Messia continues his onslaught on the R&B charts with his breakout hit Talibans.

Talibans moves up from #39 to #36 in its 5th week on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, while skipping from #19 to #16 on the Rap Airplay chart in its third week on that tally.

Popcaan

On Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Talibans steps up from #37 to #29, while on Rhythmic Airplay, the song glides from #35 to #33.

Reggae artiste Anthony B’s collaboration Wind Me Up with American inspirational singer Dante Bowe rises from #18 to #16 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart.

As we move across to the streaming and sales-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers clock 184 non-consecutive weeks at number one with Legend.

Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy is firm at #2, while Wisdom by Stick Figure moves up to #3. Stick Figure also occupies #4 and #5 with Set in Stone and World on Fire respectively.

Dutty Classics Collection and Dutty Rock by Sean Paul are #6 and #7, while Greatest Hits by UB40 remains at #8.

No Love by Byron Messia is firm at #9, while Live at Red Rocks by Rebelution re-enters at #10.

Afrobeat Medley by the Greaves Brothers spends a second week at the top of the South Florida Reggae chart while Intervention by Lady Tia steps from #7 to #4.

Meanwhile, Expressions of My Love by Fiona (#22) and Blood Red by Sherine Campbell are this week’s new entries.

On the New York Reggae chart, Old Soul by Stephen Marley takes over the #1 spot, while Lord I Thank You by Nitty Kutchie and Buju Banton rises from #5 to #3.

A remake of Lulu’s 1960s classic hit To Sir with Love, done reggae style by Althea Hewitt, parachutes from #17 to #13, while If You Like Pina Coladas by DJ Cassidy, Shaggy and Rayvon bullets from #24 to #14.
