ClickAway

ClickAway

FACED with the difficulty of finding honest, reliable skilled professionals to carry out installation and maintenance services, Tajay Mohan embarked on finding a more efficient way of matching service providers with customers through the creation of the mobile app ClickAway.

ClickAway connects customers with skilled professionals who can provide specific services in areas such as plumbing, mechanics, landscaping, general construction, motor vehicle services, trucking, general and financial services, entertainment services, beauty services, computer and online services, nanny services, legal services, and much more.

“By leveraging technology and innovative business models, ClickAway is changing the way people access services, creating a more efficient and convenient way to connect customers with service providers. The app provides a hassle-free experience for customers, makes it easy to access the services they need when they need it, and creates employment opportunities for skilled professionals,” Mohan told the Jamaica Observer.

Two and half years since the development of the app, Mohan has registered the business as ClickAway Services, operating from offices in Manchester and Kingston. He has also hired a team of developers and customer service agents to maintain the platform and provide support services to customers and registered professionals.

ClickAway Services proprietor Tajay Mohan (left), sales representative Jaquan Lewis (centre) and marketing and Brand Management Executive Alicia Roxborough promote the ClickAway app at Expo Jamaica 2023.

He pointed out that the company continues to make improvements on the platform to ensure that it is accessible throughout Jamaica’s 14 parishes and beyond, offering a seamless user experience.

“We launched beta testing of the app over a year ago and have had great success registering over 2,800 users across Jamaica. While we’ve been in operation during our beta phase, we are constantly innovating and improving our platform,” Mohan told Sunday Finance.

According to the founder, the aim of the ClickAway platform is twofold: helping customers to find reliable service providers and helping skilled professionals to find employment opportunities. It is for this reason that he extols the application’s “transparent service process and comprehensive range of on-demand services”.

With more than 200 categories of professionals and 1,300 registered service providers, Mohan said, “ClickAway Services provides customers with a wide range of options to choose from.”

Currently the most significant demand for the app’s services are from the parishes of Kingston, St Andrew, St Catherine, and St Ann. But the company has widened its target market beyond Jamaica’s borders to include people in the Diaspora who require professional services for their properties, businesses and other individual needs.

“We employ a variety of marketing strategies to promote ClickAway Services. One of our primary strategies is social media marketing, which includes platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We utilise targeted ads and engaging content to reach potential customers,” Mohan shared of the company’s marketing strategy.

ClickAway Services founder Tajay Mohan says one of the primary strategies used to promote the app is social media marketing.

“We rely heavily on word of mouth marketing as satisfied customers are often our best advocates. We encourage our customers to share their experiences with others and [we] provide incentives for referrals,” he added.

Additionally, ClickAway Services uses traditional marketing methods such as print ads, billboards, cold calling and e-mail marketing to cover potential clients who do not have a social media presence. By employing both traditional marketing and digital marketing efforts, the company has been able to overcome one of its main challenges – visibility.

Another challenge Mohan faced was finding capital. In the initial stage of the company, efforts to secure equity investment proved futile. However, he projects that ClickAway Services is poised to turn revenues in the millions.

“I have invested over US$100,000 and two years of time and effort into ClickAway, which I am passionate about. During our beta testing phase we earned revenue of over J$3,000,000 by completing 130-plus jobs. After securing additional investment and allocating more funds towards marketing, we officially launched the ClickAway platform to the general public,” Mohan disclosed to Sunday Finance.

In terms of growth, the entrepreneur plans to increase the company’s staff complement to boost marketing, oversee operations and finance, and drive business development.
