When the new polymer banknotes were issued by the Bank of Jamaica in June the common sentiment at that time from members of the public was that the banknotes are aesthetically appealing.

There were also concerns about the longevity of the banknotes and the resemblance to Canadian money.

Dancehall artiste Swazz shares his views in his latest single New Money.

“My latest single New Money was inspired by the release of the new banknotes. I don’t have any issue with them. I find them to be appealing and in keeping with international standards,” Swazz said in an interview with the Jamaica Observer on Wednesday.

New Money is a co-production between Richie Rich Records and Talkless Records.

The song was released on June 25.

Said Swazz: “I don’t have a problem with the new banknotes. I actually think it’s a better way going forward because it’s easier to deal with and have a better appearance.”

He also noted that since the song has been released he has been receiving positive responses.

“The feedback has been tremendous so far; the people are loving the song,” he asserted.

Born Qwayne Anderson, Swazz is from the quiet district of Oxford in St Mary.

He shared how his love for music came about.

“It all started in high school on the corridor, where I used to just freestyle for fun to entertain my classmates until everyone started to recommend that I should take it more seriously and pursue music as a career,” said the Titchfield High School and later St Mary’s High alum.

“So far, my musical journey has been an awesome one. I’ve tried to learn all aspects of the business, not just being a musical artiste and songwriter. I wake up each morning with new music on my mind and I just want to create. I know that it’s a long road, but I’m committed to this and determined to be the next big artiste out of Jamaica,” Swazz noted.
