Jatavia “JT” Johnson, one half of the rap duo City Girls, recently went viral post-appearance at the Mugler Fall/Winter 2023 show during Paris Fashion Week. Her bone-straight jet-black hair and Mugler ready-to-wear ‘fit immediately captured attention. However, it was her lip combo that really made Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) do a double-take.

A cursory glance led us to deduce that the look was an ode to the 90s clear gloss and dark liner trend. However, a closer look revealed the intricate execution it was! JT tapped London-based make-up artist Sophia Sinot to create the pout we all want.

Never ones to be daunted Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD) tapped international beautician Racquel Jenkins to recreate the look using products from her Bold By Racquel J make-up line.

Seduce Mega Matte Liquid Lipstick (this flesh tone shade is used to base the lips).

Steps

1. Exfoliate lips with a light sugar scrub

2. Base lips with flesh-tone matte liquid lipstick

3. Over line carefully with the Cocoa Mega Matte liquid lipstick. Blend to blur the lines.

4. Apply a black lip liner down the centre of the top and bottom lip, and use a thin brush to carefully carve out the sharp shape. Diffuse with a cotton swab.

5. Add lip gloss to complete the look.
