Over 700 students provided with back- to- school supplies during treat by Trelawny Northern MP
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – Over 700 students were presented with school supplies during a back-to-school treat put on Trelawny Northern Member of Parliament, Tova Hamilton at the Hague Agricultural Showground in the parish last weekend.
Hamilton told OBSERVER ONLINE that students who pre-registered received bags packed with school supplies but others who were not registered will be accommodated at a later date. She added that overall some 1,000 students will eventually be presented with school supplies following another treat in Clark’s Town, come month end.
“The bags were packed with notebooks, geometry sets, dictionaries, calculators, rulers, sharpeners, pencils, pens, the whole work, depending on what school you are attending, high or primary,” Hamilton said.
She added that tuition support was also provided to tertiary and secondary level students.
“Education is something I take seriously. I always believe education is the medium or avenue for people to transform their lives. So I think it is something we must always invest in because that’s the way to uplift the society and education is something nobody can take it away from you,” Hamilton argued.
Adults and children were treated to refreshments and entertainment throughout the day on the showground.
