Fame Fest back-to-school treat in honour of selector
Shane “ZJ Vybz” Clarke, co-conceptualiser of Fame Fest, says he and his team are looking to give back to several hundred students at the August 26 staging.
“We are currently looking to serve approximately 200 children, and even if there are more, everyone will have a chance to leave with something via the various activities on stage,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Slated for the Belvedere Sports Complex in St Andrew, there will be football matches along with domino and netball competitions. There will also be a kiddies and food village as well as basic health check-ups.
Dancehall entertainer Kemar Highcon will be the guest act.
There will be an after party featuring ZJ Vybz, King Java Intl, Team Reflexx, DJ Unruly, Essence Sound, and Intrigue Sound.
Meanwhile, ZJ Vybz told the Observer that Fame Fest is in memory of one of his relatives who played an active role in community development.
“The event is inspired by the memory of a cousin who passed eight years ago. He was a positive person in the community and well known as a sound system selector and footballer. The event will provide an opportunity to give back to the community while also bringing everyone together for a day of clean fun,” he added.
He further said that donations have been promising, so far.
“Preparations are far advanced with the help of our main sponsors Digicel, Romeich Entertainment and Lion Pride, and we have secured over 100 school bags which will be filled with goodies donated by individuals and other companies,” he said.
