NCB Foundation joins Musgrave Market rehabilitation effort
NCB Foundation has become the latest entity to donate money for the rehabilitation of the historic Musgrave Market in Port Antonio, Portland, which was razed by fire on May 28.
More than 200 vendors were impacted by the fire which destroyed a large section of the market.
The Ministry of Local Government and Community Development allocated an initial $10 million to the Portland Municipal Corporation to undertake clean-up exercises and provide temporary shelter for the butchers in the market, who were severely affected.
Since then, several private sector entities have offered financial aid for the refurbishing of the market and to provide support to the affected vendors.
This time the NCB Foundation has donated $2.5 million towards the rehabilitation effort.
