THE Pamputtae Single Mothers Foundation on Tuesday hosted a day of fun and gift-giving for the children of Fletcher’s Land in the city.

Among the activities were games and rides all day as children enjoyed a mini-carousel, bounce-about, snow cones, hot dogs, and other treats under the watchful eyes of some parents at Fletcher’s Land Community Centre.

Though fun was on the agenda, the main focus was to aid preparations for the return of students to school for the 2023-24 academic year.

Children were issued packages which included school bags, books, snacks, drink packs, among other treats.

There are plans for other gift distribution at the start of the new school term.

“This is our fifth year doing this and the people of Fletcher’s Land always show us love,” shared dancehall artiste Pamputtae. “We continue to serve this community as a labour of love.”

Co-director Alicia-Ann Carpio-Roxborough told the Jamaica Observer that she was glad for a return to the staged event at which the children can gather.

“COVID did not stop us! We drove around and gave the bags away and we also had some ‘pickney snack packs’ that was dedicated to kids — corn flakes, cereals, masks, sanitisers, everything that a kid would need, but we are glad for today’s event,” she said, adding that toys and tablets were also distributed during that time.

Among the entities on board for the success of the treat were Sunshine Snacks, iCool, Rapid Productions, National Bakery, Fresh Orange Juice, Don Mafia Music, and others.

Special mention was made of fellow artiste Spice for her contribution to the work of the foundation.

Pamputtae was sure to recognise her partners Chicken-&-Tings that provided lunch for the day.

“It’s really a team effort,” she said.

“We want to make a positive impact in this community and country. At the end of the day we want the kids to work hard to see the rewards… Tek unnu book! Mek something of unnu life… We want the best for you,” said Carpio-Roxborough.
