The Style Issue, August 31, 2023

Sunday last, at Jamaica Pegasus hotel, We Inspire — a wealth, networking, and wellness event for women by Chair Cortia Bingham-McKenzie — saw its largest turnout yet.

Naturally, an event like this (that carries a different colour theme each year, with this year being purple) calls for attendees to dress to the nines. To say the least, they didn’t disappoint, donning hues from lavender to plum and everything in-between.

According to Bingham-McKenzie, “Our theme ‘Purple Reign’ this year means that we’re reigning in our ‘queendom’ and reigning as women who stand for something with a high value and standard for Jamaica.”

Reign Supreme – If you’ve been following We Inspire Women CEO Cortia Bingham-McKenzie then you would know by now that every year she delivers head-turning “lewks”. This year she stepped out in a Shenna Carby mermaid silhouette with detachable train and caging details. (Photo: Garfield Robinson)
Suit Yourself – Stepping out in a royal purple power suit from Fashinique Ltd was Kimberly Leckie, executive director, Think Mental Health Ja. (Photo: Garfield Robinson)
The Rule of ‘Plum’ – BrandEd principal Norma Williams was in her element with a plum — a colour she adores — high-low gown. (Photo: Garfield Robinson)
‘Train’ Of Thought – We Inspire Women Director Kisha Walker was effortlessly styled in a locally made bustier, pants ensemble with detachable train. (Photo: Garfield Robinson)
