Trainer Harry Jaghai dies at age 85
Harry Jaghai, a well-known member of the Jaghai racing family, died on Thursday morning at his Meadowvale home in St Catherine. He was 85.
Jaghai had dedicated his entire life to horse racing, first as a rider and then as a trainer. He was a rider who won three races at three distinct Jamaican racetracks: Marley Mount, Knutsford Park, and Caymanas Park.
However, it was as a trainer that Jaghai cemented his place in local racing history as he saddled 341 winners. Shady Grove, Proceed, Bold Queen, Classy Slew, Lady Bangalore, and Marlee Barlee were among his favourite horses.
The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide expresses condolence to Harry Jaghai’s family and friends.
