Masicka rocked Streetz
The Masicka-headlined Streetz Festival held at the National Stadium on Saturday was a perfect production of surprises for dancehall lovers.
The third staging of the event, which was introduced to the Corporate Area after hosting past episodes in St Ann, saw cameos from Jahshii, Lila Iké, Chronic Law, Tarrus Riley, Malie Donn, Popcaan, and 10tik.
Adoring fans responded with screams and vuvuzelas as the headliner, whose real name is Javaun Fearon, invited what he termed as “bad artistes” to the stage.
Each of them took the opportunity to express gratitude to the ‘Genahsyde’ deejay for the platform and expressed how proud they were of his growth.
At minutes after 3:00 am on Sunday, the crowd erupted when Masicka decided to perform the highly anticipated track Tyrant to bring down the curtains on the festivities.
Earlier during the show two patrons fainted, which saw the concerned deejay calling for medical assistance to help the overwhelmed female fans.
Masicka did not hold back in performing other crowd favourites such as Like Gold, Moments, Pain, and Just A Minute.
For just over an hour it was non-stop hits from the casually clad entertainer, who had even requested that Tarrus Riley perform She’s Royal as an ode to his girlfriend.
The thick crowd sang along to each act and was sure to follow every instruction from their onstage icons.
Disc jockeys who set the tone for the live acts included Boom Boom, Shukkle Bus, Chrome, and Coppershot, while Fyah 105‘s Jade took on hosting duties.
Masicka fans did not mind standing for hours for the moment of truth.
“Masicka is an excellent performer and I know he has songs to go on for hours. It was a great night,” Madison Brown told the Jamaica Observer.
“It lived up to what I expected…quality show from a quality artiste,” patron Ryan Dixon added.
Streetz was held in partnership with Dragon Stout as well as Pepsi, Willcom Creative, Elite Creations, and SMA Talent Agency.
