Scores of children will benefit from proceeds made by Chris Gayle’s 40 Shades of Gayle 4.0 retro-style beach party.

“All proceeds go towards my Chris Gayle Foundation, where I give back to the community and do Christmas treats and back-to-school treats in the new year,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

The retired cricketer-turned-recording artiste added that anticipation has been high for the event slated for Pearly Beach in Ocho Rios, St Ann, on September 16.

“Preparations are going great. There is a buzz in the streets of Ocho Rios, and we are promoting heavily over the next few days and fine-tuning our preparation,” he said.

He further said the theme of his birthday bash came about to create a fun-filled experience for partygoers.

“I consulted with my team at Triple Century Records and Contractor Music Marketing and we wanted to bring out extra fun by combining the retro 90s style with a beach party. Having the patrons dress in 90s attire is going to be a blast, and I have my outfit already,” Gayle explained.

Music will be provided by DJ Kurt Riley, ZJ Johnny Kool, DJ Snoop, DJ Supa Hype, and DJ Richie Feelings. Several guest artistes are also expected to be in attendance.

Gayle made his recording début in early 2020 when he teamed with Indian rapper Emiway Bantai on the track Jamaica to India. Later that year he teamed up with Tanto Blacks for We Come Out to Party, produced by Kurt Riley. He has since released a slew of other tracks and even headlined the Tropical House Cruises To Jamaica: The Asian Edition in December 2022.

The former international cricketer for the West Indies since 1999, has set numerous records across all three formats of the game. He is the most-capped player for the West Indies in international cricket and is the only player to score a triplet of centuries, a triple hundred in Tests, double hundred in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and a hundred in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

He announced his retirement from international cricket in November 2021.
