St Elizabeth police commends team for recapturing escapee
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – Head of the St Elizabeth Police, Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto, is commending his team for “their well-planned and executed operation,” that led to the recapture of Richard Brown, an escapee from the Black River police station lock-up.
Brown was captured on Saturday.
In a statement on Sunday, Minto expressed his gratitude to all officers involved and emphasised the importance of peaceful cooperation on the part of escapees when confronted by law enforcement.

Police sources say Brown was at the bar sometime after 5:00 pm when he was apprehended.
The jailbreak, which caused widespread debate, resulted in a shakeup of the leadership of the St Elizabeth police division.
“Richard Brown was held peacefully, and surrendered to the police without any confrontation… Richard Brown was charged with …four counts of robbery and also illegal possession of a firearm. He’s now back in custody safely and our investigations will continue,” Minto said.
At the same time, Minto is appealing to individuals who may be evading the law to consider surrendering to the police rather than engaging in confrontations. He has encouraged them to seek legal advice and turn themselves in at the Black River Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) or any police station of their choice.
In addition, Superintendent Minto issued a stern warning to those involved in violent activities within the parish. Urging them to follow Brown’s example and surrender peacefully to the authorities, he remarked that the St Elizabeth police remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of the community and will take appropriate action against those who resist arrest.
