Man arrested after reportedly touching Spanish reporter’s bottom during live broadcast
Spanish police have arrested a man on suspicion of sexually assaulting a journalist after he seemingly touched her during a live broadcast.
According to a report from BBC, Isa Balado was reporting on a Madrid robbery on Tuesday when the man approached her and appeared to grope her bottom. She confronted him but the man denied it.
In footage now circulating online, Balado can be seen trying to continue the report but was interrupted by her colleague who asked to put the accused on camera.
“Isa, forgive me for interrupting you… but did he just touch your bottom?” her colleague enquired.
The man, who was still standing beside Balado, continued to smile at her and could be seen rubbing her head after she confronted him again
“As much as you want to ask what channel we are from, do you really have to touch my bottom? I’m doing a live show and I’m working,” Balado told him.
In video clips online, a man matching the description of the accused can be seen being escorted to a police vehicle in handcuffs. BBC said officers arrested him for allegedly assaulting a reporter while she was doing a live television show.
The incident comes amid the scandal surrounding the Women’s World Cup team where former Spanish Football Association president, Luis Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso on the lips during a celebration of the team’s win at the World Cup last month.
His actions led to widespread criticism, his eventual resignation and a summons to court over accusations of sexual assault and coercion.
