Clarendon College, Edwin Allen win back-to-back games

CHAPLETON, Clarendon — Defending champions Clarendon College and Edwin Allen won back-to-back games after easy wins over Kellits High and Thompson Town High, respectively, in their ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup Zone H games played on Thursday.

Kaheim Dixon scored all four goals as Clarendon College blanked Kellits High 4-0 while Tajae Thomas got a brace for Edwin Allen and Jevaughn McLellan scored the other for Edwin Allen in their 3-0 win over Thompson Town.

Edwin Allen High maintained their lead in the zone, on goals scored, as both teams are locked on six points and a goal-difference of nine.

Edwin Allen have, however, scored 10 goals to Clarendon College’s nine, both from two games.

Meanwhile, in the other Zone H game on Thursday, Lennon High edged Claude McKay High 1-0.

There will be four games featuring teams that won their first games going up against each other in today’s schedule of 18 games.

Sixteen schools playing today have won their first games, but attention will be turned to Cedric Titus in Clark’s Town, Trelawny, where Ocho Rios High, who scored 15 goals in their opening game against newcomers Discovery Bay High, will be in action.

Cedric Titus had beaten Ferncourt High 5-1 in their first outing and will be hoping to defend their home field where they lost just once last year.

Tacky High are hoping to avenge their only loss at home last year when they take on Horace Clarke High in a Zone I game where both had impressive opening wins.

Tacky High beat Carron Hall 8-0 while Horace Clarke were 3-0 winners over St Mary Technical and both will hope to be leaders at the end of the day.

Brown’s Town High and York Castle who will meet at Addison Park were the qualifiers from their zone last year but York Castle tallied 10 points more to win the zone.

Traditional power house team Manchester High will hope to maintain their usual dominance when they host DeCarteret College in Mandeville in their Zone F game.

Meanwhile, former champions Rusea’s High, Frome Technical and St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) are among the schools that will also be seeking back to back victories.

Rusea’s High will be home to Green Island High, who are making their first appearance after their game against Frome Technical on Tuesday was postponed.

Frome Technical are away to Cambridge High who were beaten 6-1 last weekend by Rusea’s High while STETHS takes on Maggotty High, who they beat two times last year.

Belair High, who had their best start with an 8-1 win over Cross Keys, will be away to Mt St Joseph Catholic while Annotto Bay High and Wycliffe Martin High will also seek to continue their winning ways.
