Tommi Gore in Radical Cup action this weekend
LOCAL driver Tommi Gore will be on the track this weekend in the final round of the Radical Cup UK Championship at Donington Park Circuit in Derby, England.
Gore will be driving his Radical SR3 car, which he put through testing on Thursday and Friday in the PRO SR3 category. He says he is pleased with its set-up so far. The car was prepared by the Raw Motorsports team in England.
“Testing has gone well,” Gore told the Jamaica Observer on Friday. “I’m a couple of tenths off the pace but making steps forward in every session. Having my first outing in the wet yesterday, I was in the top five with no previous experience on the track, nor in that car — good signs there.”
Gore will be competing on a grid of up to 20 cars but he is still scouting his main rivals.
“I honestly don’t know my competitors yet,” he said. “The majority only did Friday testing today; I have an idea of who’s fast and who’s not, but no names just yet.
“I was told a top 10 finish would be a job well done, however I’m aiming to be in the top five for the weekend with the chance at a podium.
Gore has also praised the race organisers for how smoothly the events have gone so far.
“So far it is a very well-planned and prepared event — session timing done to the minute, recovery teams well prepared, and overall, a professional environment,” he said.
Gore will take part in qualifying and three 30-minute races between Saturday and Sunday. Fans can see the races live on the official YouTube channel, @RadicalMotorsport, as well as on Gore’s social media platforms. His father, Doug, will also be streaming the races live on his social media pages.
The first race takes place at 10:35 am, Jamaica time, on Saturday while the second race starts at 6:30 am on Sunday. The final race is also on Sunday at 11:15 am.
