It was in honour of the Reggae Girlz and a fitting tribute to Jamaica’s sport ambassadors that was delivered recently by the local governing body for Olympic sports, the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA), at Mingles at the Courtleigh Hotel and Suites.

JOA President Christopher Samuda, in lauding the feats of the Reggae Girlz, exhorted them to be “stewards of greatness in demonstrating character as their feet make history for a nation and aspiring young girls of tomorrow’s generations and those unborn.”

Jamaica Football Federation(JFF) President Michael Ricketts, while thanking the JOA for its continued support, reassured the Reggae Girlz that “JFF loves and has the greatest respect for you and looks forward to you creating history at the Paris Olympic Games.”

The Reggae Girlz and the management and technical staff were recognised with JFF plaques presented by presidents Ricketts and Samuda and JOA directors Jacqueline Cowan and Nichole Case.

National Coach Lorne Donaldson expressed heartfelt appreciation to the JOA and JFF. Co-captain of the Reggae Girlz, Allyson Swaby expressed similar sentiments and pledged their commitment to the Olympic journey.

Commenting on the Olympic campaign, JOA Secretary General/CEO Ryan Foster said, “the trilogy — the JOA, JFF and the Bob Marley Foundation — have joined hands in inspiring the Reggae Girlz in creating history.”
