Knox College and Annotto Bay High will this afternoon seek to become the first schools to win their first four games in this season’s Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/Wata daCosta Cup football competition when they face Holmwood Technical and St Mary Technical, respectively.

Knox College are back in the competition for the first time since the 2019 season, while Annotto Bay High won just four games in Zone J last season and missed advancing to the second round by two points.

Denbigh High are also seeking to maintain their perfect win record when they host Old Harbour High. Nine games are scheduled to be played this afternoon, including three in the competitive Zone A.

On Thursday, Happy Grove High won their third-straight game, blanking Titchfield High 7-0 in their Zone N game. Happy Grove are the 14th school to achieve that feat so far.

Shevon Miller led Happy Grove with a hat-trick, scoring in the sixth, 20th and 31st minutes, Bonny Chisholm had a brace with goals in the 25th from the penalty spot and 68th minutes while Oshane Chambers in the 36th and Shanroy Cunningham in the 71st minute also scored.

In another game played Thursday, Paul Bogle High edged Yallahs High 1-0.

On Friday, Knox College will be hoping to make a big step towards qualifying for the second round for the first time since the 2011 season when they face a struggling Holmwood Technical team that has just one point from three games. Holmwood have scored just two goals in the process.

Knox College have only scored five goals but managed to win all their games and will be expected to win again.

Annotto Bay are off to a fast start, scoring 16 goals in their three victories and will face a St Mary Technical team that is already five points off the lead. St Mary Technical have have managed to score just five goals.

Denbigh High will hope to match their win total from last year as they take on Old Harbour High who have played just once, losing to Glenmuir High.

Denbigh have already scored 23 goals in their two games, the exact number of goals they scored over the two previous seasons. They beat Porus High 18-0 and last season’s beaten finalists Central High 5-0.

In Zone A, Maldon High will hope to win three straight for the first time since the 2017 season when they host St James High. Maldon are coming off back-to-back games in which they scored four goals each.

Leaders Cornwall College will hope for consecutive wins when they host Spot Valley High, while Irwin High host Green Pond, who are yet to open their account and are at the foot of the points table.
