SO2 (PART 1)

And just like that, we’re on to the second of the ‘Big Four’: London Fashion Week (LFW)!

LFW is a clothing trade show that takes place in the UK twice a year: June and September. Showcasing over 250 designers to a global audience of influential media and retailers, it is second in the line-up following New York and preceding Milan and Paris.

This year, LFW ran from September 15-19, showcasing both menswear and womenswear as a hybrid digital and physical event. SO2 spotlights The Rock stunners in the mix.

Let’s Start With… Vogue World

On September 14, 2023, Vogue celebrated its second annual Vogue World event in London. While last year the celebration of the publication’s 130th anniversary commandeered West 13th Street in New York City for a live runway show, this year’s fashion extravaganza took over London’s famed Theatre Royal Drury Lane for a celebration of British theatre and fashion.

Inspired by opening night on the West End, editors Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful kicked off LFW with the help of BAFTA- and Olivier-winning director Stephen Daldry, who engineered the event. Guests experienced a host of performances from leaders across the entertainment world, culminating with a live runway show with models wearing highlights from the Fall 2023 collections. Proceeds from the grand performance will go to various London-based performing arts organisations, including the National Theatre, the Royal Opera House, the Royal Ballet, Southbank Sinfonia, and Rambert.

Then…

British-Jamaican supermodel Naomi Campbell turned heads on the second day of LFW as she attended the Mains London show.

Campbell donned a black double-breasted jacket with statement padded shoulders and wide-cut peak lapels from Alexander McQueen. She paired it with matching high-waisted cigarette trousers which featured zip detailing across the front and two side pockets.

The supermodel shared highlights from the fashion show on Instagram as she sat front-row.

Mains London is a streetwear label founded by British grime MC, rapper and record producer Skepta. Mains made its debut at LFW with a Spring 2024 Ready-to-Wear Collection.
