JLP supporters urge Dalrymple-Philibert to remain as Trelawny Southern MP
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – Despite the intermittent drizzle, scores of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters in Trelawny Southern thronged Albert Town Square on Monday in a unified plea to Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert to reverse her decision to resign as their parliamentary representative.
The placard-waving JLP supporters expressed that no other Member of Parliament (MP) has made the representation on behalf of the constituency than Dalrymple-Philibert.
Some members of the gathering beseeched their MP to at least remain in the constituency until the end of the term.
She has been MP in Trelawny Southern since 2007.
Dalrymple-Philibert resigned from the posts of House Speaker and MP of Trelawny Southern amid mounting pressure in relation to the eight charges laid against her by the Integrity Commission.
