STETHS swamp Roger Clarke High in d’Cup

KINGSTON, Jamaica— Former champions St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) went on a scoring spree on Saturday when they drubbed Roger Clarke High 20-0 in their ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup Zone E game played in Santa Cruz.

DeAndre Barnett scored six times in the first half in what was the largest margin of victory in any schoolboy football game so far this season, which saw Justin McPherson getting a hat-trick, while D’andre Hibbert scored in his sixth consecutive game as the winners moved to 16 points.

BB Coke High moved into second place on 13 points after handing Munro College their first loss of the season, winning 2-1, while there were also wins for Lacovia High and Maggotty High.

Twelve- time champions Cornwall College won their fourth straight game, edging Maldon High 1-0 in their Zone A return round game to stay in the lead as Irwin high edged Spot Valley High 1-0, thanks to a Leo Campbell goal to stay in second place.

Belair High had a big 12-0 win over Cross Keys High in their rescheduled Zone F game with Daniel Brown scoring four goals, while Raimi Smith, Odane Windett and Fante Johnson all scored two goals each with Javon Daring and Christian Henry getting one each.

Also in Zone F, Raheem Russell scored four goals for deCarteret College who beat Mt St Joseph Catholic 6-0.

Cedric Titus High’s five-game winning streak in Zone C came to an end as they had to come from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against York Castle High in St Ann.

William Knibb Memorial beat Aabuthnott Gallimore 5-0 with two goals each from Theonjae Bennett and Koran Henriques as Brown’s Town High had a 12-1 win over Discovery Bay High.

Tacky High just managed to stay on top in Zone I as despite being held 2-2 by St Mary High, Horace Clarke High moved up to second place after beating Annotto Bay High 2-0.
