Rallysport returned on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Wakefield, Bog Walk, in St Catherine, courtesy of the Drivers’ RallySport Club (DRC). The event was welcomed by fans of the motorsport genre, and even with the small turnout there was more than enough excitement and drama.

The hot Sunday weather gave way to torrential rain for the closing moments as Class JA8 competitor Brandon King completed his championship run. Demar Lee, following King, found himself dealing with wet grass and mud and halfway through his championship run the heavens opened up. The Class JN8 driver had to reduce pace to safely complete the now-changeable conditions.

Things weren’t any better for the subsequent driver, Thomas Hall, who, up to that point, was event favourite, having done the fastest regular lap.

“I had to drive much slower. I drove the championship run in the start of the storm, basically. The wiper was not fast enough, also it was my first time driving that car in the wet,” Hall told the Jamaica Observer‘s weekly Auto magazine.

With Hall fastest in his class, and Lee second, it was King and his dry run who took victory. Lee finished second in the championship runs, and Hall third.

“I’m just glad we got to drive again and I was able to win the two-lapper for my sponsors. Hopefully, we will have more events so I can be faster. My team and I are looking forward to Spot Valley next month,” said Hall.
