IN honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Healing Hands Worldwide (HHW) will host its first-ever benefit concert in Jamaica, aptly named Echoes In Pink. Scheduled to take place on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Jamaica Pegasus hotel, the evening promises a mix of soulful music and heartfelt solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.

Dr Erole Mclean Hobdy, founder of HHW shared, “Breast cancer affects so many lives across the Caribbean, and through our extensive practice we have come across so many women that are unable to afford the treatment for the disease. Through our organisation, and now this event (which we aim to host annually), we hope to restore strength, hope, and faith in the women affected. It’s not just a concert but a harmonious pledge of support and unity. We’re profoundly grateful for any assistance as it all contributes to this significant cause.”

Founded in 2017, Healing Hands Worldwide Inc has tirelessly worked towards providing chemotherapy medications — free of cost — to uninsured women battling breast cancer across the Caribbean. The organisation assists women in Jamaica, mainly at the University Hospital of the West Indies. Their endeavours do not stop here as they have also supported the dreams of young Jamaicans by offering scholarships to students transitioning into high school.

Karen Nelson-Hughes, HHW executive director, added, “Through our One Patient-At-A-Time initiative we have provided no-cost chemotherapy to women with early stage breast cancer in Jamaica. We are proud to have been a partner of the oncology clinic at the University Hospital of the West Indies over the years.”

The Echoes In Pink concert is being organised in partnership with Jamaica Reach To Recovery, the innovative team behind the Pink Run. The musical night will feature Grammy-nominated reggae sensation Etana, George Nooks, and Althea Hewitt.
