UWI Mona announces 2023 valedictorians
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Campus has named four students as their valedictorians for graduating classes of 2023.
In a release on Tuesday, UWI described the selected individuals as remarkable students who are expected to share messages of “hope, grit and pure ‘Pelican Pride’” when they address the Mona Campus’ graduation ceremonies scheduled for November 3 and 4.
The selected valedictorians are:
– Aundrene Cameron – Faculty of Law;
– Charm Evans Faculty of Social Sciences – The Mona School of Business and Management;
– Jamar Grant – Faculty of Humanities and Education; and
– Sadeika Smith – Faculty of Medical Sciences
“Excelling in their studies and communities, these four students serve as a beacon of light for their peers and the nation and will represent their faculties as valedictorians for The UWI Mona’s Graduating Class of 2023,” the release stated.
All ceremonies will be broadcast live via UWItv.
According to UWI, valedictorians represent the best of the campus’ graduating class. Nominees are selected on academic performance, and involvement in extra and co-curricular activities.
Graduates from the Faculty of Law, Humanities & Education, Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Social Sciences will be celebrated on Friday November 3. Students from the Faculty of Medical Sciences & Faculty of Sport, Faculty of Engineering, IGDS and Faculty of Social Sciences (MSBM only) will be celebrated on November 4.
