EPL: Chelsea welcome Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in huge London Derby clash
Premier League football returns with a bang this weekend as fans will witness two huge derbies. Firstly, tomorrow morning Liverpool will welcome Everton for their Merseyside derby, then later on Saturday, Chelsea and Arsenal will square off in the big London derby.
Event # 1 – EPL – Liverpool vs Everton – 6:30 am
Liverpool will renew hostilities with hated neighbours Everton for a highly anticipated Merseyside derby tomorrow, October 21. The two great rivals are battling at opposite ends of the league with Liverpool sitting fourth and Everton just above the relegation zone in 16th position. Victory for Liverpool would take atop the table for at least a few hours. Indeed, Liverpool will be aiming to return to winning ways having failed to win in each of their last two matches, losing to Tottenham in controversial circumstances and playing to a 2-2 draw at Brighton just before the international break. The good news for Liverpool is this match is at home where they have won their first three home games of the season and have won seven of their last 10 home games against Everton, outscoring them by 23-7 during this period.
Everton had a terrible start to the new campaign, with three defeats from their first three matches; however, since then, they have been better, losing just two of their next seven matches in all competitions and have scored at least once in each of those games. Even with their upturn in form, a trip across town is always a daunting task for the Evertonian’s, who have won just one of the last 25 Merseyside derbies. With that said, they will travel to Liverpool with momentum on their side, having beaten Bournemouth 3-0 before the international break.
Key Stats
●Liverpool – Liverpool have scored in all 11 games played so far this season, including all five matches played at Anfield so far.
●Everton – Everton have only beaten Liverpool once in their last 28 meetings, but they have scored a goal in six of their last seven games.
●Both sides – Everton have only won at Anfield once, back in 2021, that win was the only time Everton have beaten Liverpool in 28 meetings, a run that stretches back over 10 years.
The betting Tip. Liverpool win.
Event # 2 EPL – Chelsea vs Arsenal – 11:30 am
After a two-week break, showtime Arsenal are back in action when they travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in a huge London derby. Chelsea will head into the clash against Arsenal in a rich vein of form, having won each of their last two matches. The Blues, Chelsea, will be looking to put an end to their rotten head-to-head meetings with Arsenal as they last defeated the Gunners at home back in 2018. With that said, Chelsea appears to be hitting top form at the right time, winning their last three games played in October, but unfortunately for Chelsea fans, there’s a caveat to those wins, as two of those were against much weaker teams (Fulham and Burnley).
Arsenal are one of only two remaining unbeaten teams in the Premier League this season and will be full of confidence for their trip to their London rivals after their impressive and recent win over Manchester City prior to the international break. A dramatic late winner by Gabriel Martinelli gave Arsenal a 1-0 win at home, which left them top of the table with Tottenham. Arsenal have dropped points in just two matches so far, both at home, but they have been in irrepressible form away from home, winning their last three such games without conceding a single goal in that span. Victory over Chelsea would see Arsenal taking sole leadership of the table and they will be confident of securing this win as their record in London derbies have been impeccable, having gone 15 matches without defeat in these matches.
Key Stats
●Chelsea – Chelsea have won each of their last two league matches. However, they have lost their last two matches at home, but they haven’t lost three on the bounce in the league since 1993.
•Arsenal – Arsenal are unbeaten in all eight matches played so far this season, winning all four of their away matches without conceding during this run.
•Both sides – Arsenal have won their last three matches at Stamford Bridge and have won six of their last seven meetings with Chelsea.
The betting Tip. Arsenal win.
