Molynes, Vere happy with opening stalemate
THE coaching staff of Molynes United and Vere United say their teams made positive starts to the season despite their goalless stalemate at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Monday evening in the Jamaica Premier League.
Chances were far and few between throughout the contest.
The best goalscoring chance all game came from Vere United’s Lamar Neil whose free kick crashed off the crossbar minutes into the second half.
Molynes United forward Jason Wright was through on goal just before the 90th minute but fired high.
Despite not finding the back of the net, Molynes Head Coach Alex Thomas was satisfied with the result.
“It’s good to come away with a point, and the next plus is that we came away with a clean sheet. But, we have to go back to the playing field because we’re still a work in progress.”
Vere Head Coach Linval Dixon was also pleased with what he saw.
“I think it’s a good performance. First game of the season and we look much better attacking wise. Yes, we should have scored one of the chances but it really looks good for Vere — and hopefully we can build on that.”
In the other match of the double-header, hosts Arnett Gardens and Dunbeholden were locked 0-0 at press time.
