East Japanese Opens in MoBay

The proprietors of East Japanese have now opened in the west. This move was influenced by the interest and steady stream of customers from that part of the island eventually leading to the roll-out of its newest location at Fairview in Montego Bay.

The sushi hot spot was opened in September and the response has been extremely positive, and it’s only expected to get better.

East Japanese Montego Bay restaurant manager Akihiro Kubo filled in Thursday Food on the offerings and what to expect.

“We were getting several customers coming from Montego Bay to enjoy our offerings in Kingston and we felt it best to open a location here serving up the same wonderful menu items available in Kingston. That is important to us as we serve authentic Japanese cuisine, just as how you would have it in Japan. While we use local produce where necessary our seasonings come directly from Japan,” Kubo explained.

“We find that customers are asking for the teriyaki chicken and beef don and the California roll. However, we have an impressive menu with several options including chicken and shrimp don, grilled salmon, shrimp tempura and of course sushi rolls. We have dining and takeout services for ease and convenience as well,” Kubo added.

Customer Michael Chung, a sushi lover, gave us his reaction after enjoying a meal with his family including sushi, miso soup and Teriyaki chicken.

“I had the sushi today and the quality is very good. I’m surprised at the serving size of the Teriyaki options as it’s more than I expected. I’m used to having sushi from abroad and I can tell you the quality right here is very good,” Chung stated.
