Bartlett debuts new book on thought leadership and tourism resilience
KINGSTON, Jamaica— In a one-on-one session with journalists in the United Kingdom last week, Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett discussed the themes of his new book titled ‘Thought Leadership on Tourism Resilience and Sustainability in the 21st Century’.
He stated that the book could be a guide to help rebuild the tourism sector stronger should the world face another disruption like the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“COVID has taught the world that resilience building will be critical to future proofing tourism. More now than ever we need to be able to bounce back even stronger when these disruptions occur and this book, I believe, will be one of those tools to help do that,” Bartlett said.
“Tourism is at a pivotal moment in its history where partners and stakeholders work to recover from the most devastating global pandemic and now we need to be prepared for that next moment in history when there is another disruption,” the minister added.
According to a statement on Monday, the book is a collection of the minister’s essays, each of which is an in-depth investigation of some facets of tourism, from the importance of digital landscapes to the future of ocean economies. It is a timely publication that seeks to future proof the tourism industry for generations to come.
